PHILOSOPHY
Providing a warm and safe environment is my first priority. I'm a firm believer that counselors should meet the client where they are.
To me, this means utilizing the best approach for the client. I've found various types of play therapy work well with children, encouraging their engagement during sessions. I like to implement DBT as many children benefit from learning coping skills and how to regulate their emotions.
With teens and adults, I might utilize person centered therapy or rational emotive behavior therapy, depending on the needs of the client. Every client should feel heard, and as a collaborative member investing in their mental health.
